I’m attending my first ever ACFW conference this week and I’m beyond excited and nervous. I was excited to see this 2017 Pre-Conference Mix & Mingle hosted by Laurie Tomlinson. I discovered this via Becky Wade‘s twitter account!
Here’s how to play:
Here are my answers:
Name: Kelly D. Scott
Location: McKinney, TX (north of Dallas)
What you write/tagline/trademark: Contemporary Christian Romance
Place in the book world: One completed WIP and it’s sequel is in progress
On a scale of hugger to 10-foot-pole, please rate your personal space: That awkward pause before we actually hug
Something VERY serious: How do you take your Starbucks? With a gift card!
The unique talking points that will get you going for hours: Other religions, apologetics, non-believers (not Beliebers although I do listen to him lol!), my kids, my WIP, and what restaurant I want to try next
Loved ones at home you’ll be missing: My husband and my two boys (ages 7 and 2)
Conference goals we can pray for? Conni Cossette told me I’d feel like I was drinking from the fire hose. Pray I don’t get knocked down! And….to pitch or not to pitch that is the question since this is my FIRST conference.
Anything we can celebrate with you? I gave up highlighting my hair and told Amazon to lay low for awhile so I could afford to come. I’ve never given up my hair appointments for ANYTHING so that’s a big deal. It’s how I convinced my husband to let me go. So if you see some bad roots on me just ignore them, but do please introduce yourself.
One or two ways we can help you build your platform? My favorite platform is Instagram so feel free to follow me there. For any aspiring authors that aren’t yet online, I have the perfect thing for you. It’s a “how to build your website” PDF.

Kelly!!!! I have been looking for you everywhere! You emailed me not too long ago and I was at work and couldn’t answer. I forgot about it until a few days ago and looked all over for you. The problem was I couldn’t remember your last name. There are lots of Kellys. 😉 I’m so glad you get to go to the conference and I’m so impressed you gave up coloring your hair. What dedication! I am looking forward to seeing you!

It’s great to meet you, Kelly. My mom lives in McKinney. I love their downtown square. 🙂 I hope I get a chance to meet you this weekend. (And I’d say–pitch! If nothing else, it’s always good practice, and you just never know what could happen. ;))

Thanks for the advice! And that’s awesome that your mom lives here! See you at conference.

Teach me your ways! Instagram to me is like owning a cat. I’m a dog person. I’ve always been a dog person. I know everything about dogs. It is as if someone gave me a cat and told me that I must keep it alive and I don’t even know if cats eat food or just drink milk. I can do facebook all day, but Instagram confuses me so very much. Now twitter? That is like owning a baby goat. And snapchat is like a dragon.

You can teach me Facebook while I show you Instagram. We’ll have a social media chat at conference!

I’m so glad you’re coming to the conference! I predict that you’re going to love it. Who needs good roots? 😉
