An Interview and Giveaway with Author Kara Isaac

Hi Everyone!
I’m here to introduce you to the lovely Kara Isaac. Kara’s newest release “All Made Up” is out and if you’re a fan of romantic comedy then this book is for you!
What’s “All Made Up” about?

Everyone thinks Katriona McLeod is living the dream. Her professional career as a make up artist sees her traveling the world working with the stars and she’s got no shortage of men wanting her affection. Only problem is she’s never gotten over Caleb Murphy, the one guy she’s ever loved. When she accepts a job on the latest looking-for-love reality TV show, Falling for the Farmer, she discovers to her horror that Caleb is the leading man and she’s cast as one of his harem. But she hides a secret that means that even if she wanted a second chance with the guy who broke her heart she could never have it.

Caleb Murphy couldn’t care less about C-Class celebrity fame or reality TV and he certainly doesn’t believe it could lead him to love. The one thing he does care about is fulfilling his mother’s last wish. Kat’s presence on the show seems to offer up a solution that will make both the network and his mother happy. It might have been almost ten years since they split but he knows he can trust her with his plan. Just as long as he doesn’t fall in love all over again with the woman who will never stay.

Kara agreed to be interviewed!
1. I love that All Made Up reflected your love of The Bachelor. What was one of your favorite seasons?
Ooooo that’s a tough one. With the benefit of hindsight it has to be Sean and Catherine because they are now married and have two gorgeous kids which I use a proof to my husband whenever he insists the whole thing is scripted and everyone is actors! At the time I was besotted with Ben and Lauren’s season and I’m still sad to this day that they didn’t work out.
2. One of my favorite parts of this book were the Facebook messages between Kat and her friends. So much humor in these moments! What inspired you to write these and can we have a whole book of them?
I was inspired to write them for a couple of reasons. The first was because Kat being on the show and then on the farm made her very physically isolated in a situation where she really needed her closest friends. So the Facebook messages were a great way of being able to show that side to her and bring in the emotional support (and reality checks!) that she needed. The second was it was just plain fun to be able to bring Allie and Paige back. They have their own stories in previous books and so this was a fun way of being able to let readers know what was going on in their lives and how their stories had developed since their own books.
3. You hit on some heavy topics in this book, too. Alzheimer’s and endometriosis. What made you decide to tackle these?
Caleb is the very antithesis of the kind of guy that would go on this type of show so I knew that whatever the reason was that he was on there it was going to be something deeply personal and related to someone that he loved, it wasn’t the kind of thing that he would do for himself. His mother having dementia and her last wish before she lost her sense of self was to see him find love was one of the few things that I could think of that would compel him to do something so completely out of character. With the endometriosis, it was a couple of things. The first is that I have had friends who have struggled with endometriosis and it wasn’t something that I recalled ever reading before in a Christian romance and it was something I felt strongly that needed to be explored. The number of women that I’ve heard from since All Made Up released saying “this is my story” has been really humbling.
4. What’s your next book about?
One Thing I Know releases in February and is about a ghostwriter hiding behind a famous relationship coach and a sports radio star who get thrown together in an attempt to cure her writer’s block. It introduces readers to three friends who have been estranged since college and it’s also my first book set in the US so I’m feeling a bit nervous about it!

This looks like such a fun book, well, except for the difficult parts. My sister has endometriosis and it is rough. You don’t just get rid of it…it’s an invasive thing that won’t leave you alone. Thank you for bringing it to the forefront. I’m looking forward to reading your book.

It’s Cover Reveal Day for The Second Chance Trai It’s Cover Reveal Day for The Second Chance Trailer Park by Katie Powner! This funny, feel-good story releases July 21. About the book:

Fifty-two-year-old Meredith McGillicutty is not having a midlife crisis. She’s just ready for a change of pace, that’s all. The fact that she lied to get into a retirement community has nothing to do with being passed over for a promotion at work nor her recent breakup with the only man she’s ever loved.

Nothing.

Meredith only wants some peace and quiet. To sit on a porch in elastic-waist pants and mingle with other mature individuals who value a life of serenity. But the residents of the Peaceful Pines retirement community have other plans for her. These quirky and endearing neighbors seem to know her better than she knows herself, and they decide Meredith’s life is only just beginning. #coverreveal #katiepowner #fictionbook
