I think I was able to download this book for free or there was an advertised deal so I snagged this up.
Why?
First reason – cover love! Swoon! And after a little bit of research I discovered Staci does her own covers. I do appreciate that no one was shirtless AND just the emotion the cover models seemed to capture. She had me sold just on the cover alone. (Staci – please do my future covers for me!)
So let’s talk about the book.
No plot spoilers here!
This contemporary romance is based on Jane Austen’s “Persuasion.” So that’s a win there.
And it’s written in first person. Yes!
And you won’t believe me until you read it, but let me just say that I felt the writing was lyrical, in a sense, so much that it pushed me to turn the pages. I can’t explain it, but I loved the writing! The emotions were captured so well in the words.
I’m a fan! (Except for the sex scenes which I didn’t know I would be encountering). OK sorry that’s a spoiler.
But overall, beautifully written, plotted, and it contains a beautiful cover!
